Ashton

Ashton is a small and picturesque village which was built in 1900 by Lord Rothschild, to house the workers on the estate. The cottages are built in Tudor style of thatch and local stone. In the centre is a village green, which every autumn becomes the focus of attention, as visitors from all over the world participate in or spectate at the World Conker Championships. The 2009 World Conker Championships has moved to New Lodge Fields (between Ashton and Polebrook)
