logoEast Northamptonshire Youth Council comprises 20 members, all nominated by school students in years 10, 11 and 12 (plus one representative from either years 9 or 13) from the five secondary schools in the district, Prince William, Rushden, Huxlow, Raunds Manor, and Ferrers School. In addition, the Youth Council also includes representatives from the voluntary sector. It meets five times a year. Meetings are usually held at the Council Offices in Thrapston - starting at 1.00 pm.

It aims to give young people the opportunity:-
• To influence the delivery and design of public services, especially those provided by the District Council. The Council will consult the Youth Council on its various plans, and encourage other service providers (e.g. Youth Service, Health Authority) to also consult;

• To directly improve the local environment or community for young people. East Northamptonshire Council makes an annual grant of £5,000 to the Youth Council. To understand how Local Government works, where the money comes from and how decisions re made in a democratic environment.
